Who I am
I am a mental health practitioner, or psychotherapist, who has been serving the North Carolina community for several years. I have clinical experience working with individuals facing many different mental health challenges, including those who have endured trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD), those dealing with the ramifications of narcissistic abuse, and those living with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, other mood disorders, OCD, ADHD, grief processing, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. I have experience working with individuals who serve or have served in the armed forces. And, of course, I also have experience working with patients with comorbid diagnoses, meaning that they deal with several different mental health challenges simultaneously.
My approach to therapy is founded on a humanistic approach. This means that I offer my patients empathy, unconditional positive regard, and acceptance. I actively practice cultural humility and seek to understand my patients’ cultures, beliefs, and life philosophies so that my feedback is tailored to their needs while respecting their individuality.
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from East Carolina University where I graduated with honors. Prior to this, I worked in the academic field for several years, though in a different discipline. I am currently a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate (LCAS-A).
I do accept insurance (Aetna, BCBSNC, and MedCost at this time); I intend to become paneled with more insurers in the future, as well as Medicaid. I also see patients who choose to engage in private pay. I do work with other providers (such as medical professionals providing mental health prescriptions) provided ROI’s are requested/provided by the patient and appropriately documented.
